The Darkers were after not Tachibana Itsuki but Izumi Rina. By the time Itsuki and Aika realized this, it was already too late. The Dark Falz takes control of Rina and turns its overwhelming power against Itsuki and Aika. Rina doesn`t respond in the slightest to Itsuki`s pained cries. Itsuki retreats for the moment to return to Seiga Academy. While asking himself what he can do, he heads to the student council room. The student council members are agitated by their president`s absence, and they ask Itsuki where she is.
Rina`s desire is for the school festival to succeed. He doesn`t want to disappoint her when she returns. With those thoughts in his heart, Itsuki begs the student council members for help, promising that he will bring Rina back...

Every student is on board the fad—except for Itsuki Tachibana, a well-rounded student who doesn't play video games. Due to its popularity, the game is currently under review at Seiga Academy to see if it has a negative impact on the students. Consequently, this causes Itsuki to catch the attention of Rina Izumi, the perfectionist student council president who aims to prove that the game is not to blame.
To accomplish her objective, Rina recruits Itsuki as the student council vice president and tasks him with learning to play the game while keeping his grades up. Now obliged to report his daily findings of the game to Rina and analyze its merits, Itsuki carries the fate of Phantasy Star Online 2 in his hands.
