The family goes to visit Dad in the hospital. Each night, you can hear the cries of the cicada, well out of season. This starts a rumor about cicada ghosts being in the hospital; Mom awakes from a nap to the sound of Bunji and Fumi yelling "Jon!" She thinks something`s amiss, and sure enough, when she looks in the mirror she sees that she turned into Jon!; It`s the first time it`s snowed at the Kamogara house in a long time. They break up into two squads, managed by Mom and Dad respectively, and have a snowball fight. Mom uses her clever wit to slowly collapse Dad`s team; Mom and the family are shopping at a department store at New Year;s. Dad, in a rare display of generosity, offers to buy Bunji and Fumi one toy each. Mom asks, "What, I don`t get one?"
